NetEase Web site Launches WAP E-mail; Re-launches content channels

NetEase.com Inc. (Nasdaq: NTES), a leading Internet technology company based in China, supporting the number one Web site in China according to independent ranking firm iamasia, today announced the launch of a new free WAP enabled e-mail service: freemail.163.com. The NetEase Web site is the first portal in China to offer full support of WAP e-mail. In addition, 17 content channels on the 163.com Web site have been redesigned to enhance the user’s experience with faster and easier navigation.
Since 1998, the NetEase Web site has provided Chinese users access to free bilingual Web-based e-mail and currently services over 6.2 million e-mail users. The new e-mail system combines advanced and reliable e-mail technology with WAP capability. WAP users will experience full display capabilities for both sending and receiving text messages. NetEase’s current WAP service encompasses partnerships with global leaders in mobile technology, including Ericsson, Motorola, Siemens and China Unicom.

NetEase also announced the re-design of the NetEase Web site’s content channels which now feature new and enriched information as well as faster and easier navigation. The Web site continues to host 18 channels ranging in topics from news to finance, and sports to computers. The channels now boast added options, including a news archive and a weekly and monthly news column. The new version also puts NetEase “Power to the People” concept into action with a platform for Internet users to post more of their own original works for all NetEase Web site users to access.
